Payment zones and rates in Copenhagen
The City of Copenhagen has four payment zones, with red the most central and yellow the outermost. The rate depends on the zone and the time of day:

Where do you find the best parking in Copenhagen?
Most central parking in Copenhagen is paid parking spread across four payment zones: red, green, blue and yellow. The price depends on the zone and the time of day — most expensive during the day (08:00-18:00) in the red and green zones, cheapest at night, when the rate is the same across the city. Since 1 April 2025 you pay every day of the week.
There are still good ways to park for free: the first hour of your first registered parking is free from Saturday 17:00 to Monday 08:00 and on public holidays. There are also time-limited zones — mainly in the outer neighbourhoods — where you can park for free with a parking disc for the period shown on the signs.
Use the map colours to tell them apart: green is free, orange is time-limited, and blue is paid parking. If you pay in an expensive zone, your payment is also valid in the cheaper zones — but not the other way around. Also note that in the Medieval City (inner city) you may only park in marked bays.
For a long stay, a parking facility with a daily maximum can sometimes be cheaper than the street — while street parking is usually cheapest for short stays. Compare the options on the map, so you hit both the right price and get on your way quickly.
