Parking at Den Gamle By in Aarhus

A visit to Den Gamle By usually takes three to four hours, and with children often a full day. That rules out street parking: the red zone is capped at two hours during the day, so a car park is really the only option. With only 58 spaces it is also worth having a plan B in high season and over Christmas, when the museum is busiest.

Q-Park Ceres Byen is the answer if you need to be sure of a space. With 1,244 spaces it is by far the largest car park in central Aarhus and practically never runs out — not in the summer holidays, not during Christmas at Den Gamle By. It is about 275 m away, roughly a four-minute walk through Ceres Byen. It costs DKK 25 an hour capped at DKK 230 a day, so a full day at the museum never costs more than that. For a long visit with children it is both the calmest and the most predictable choice.

Den Gamle By is an open-air museum in Aarhus's Botanical Garden, founded in 1914 as the world's first open-air museum of urban culture.
