Parking at Salling in Aalborg

The free first hour changes the maths for a quick errand: if you are just picking something up, Salling's own car park is now the obvious choice and costs nothing. Stay beyond an hour, though, and DKK 15 per started hour is higher than several car parks nearby — at which point two more minutes on foot pays. Salling's own car park at Braskensgade 8 is about 85 m from the entrance — under a minute on foot — with just over 300 spaces. Since 21 September 2026 the first hour is free, then DKK 15 per started hour, and Sundays are free all day. For a short trip to the store it is hard to beat: closest in, and nothing to pay. Note that billing is per started hour, so 61 minutes costs the same as two hours.

If you need more than an hour in town, Slotsgade 14 is the cheapest real option: 126 spaces at DKK 10 an hour, about 180 m from Salling. Three hours costs DKK 30 there against DKK 30 at Salling (a free first hour plus two at 15) — the same. At four hours Slotsgade is DKK 40 against 45, and the gap widens from there. In short: under two hours Salling wins, beyond that Slotsgade does. Another option is Brandstrupsgade 6, a municipal space at DKK 18 an hour — the only one here where you can pay directly in the FreeSpot app.

For a Saturday in December, when Salling and the rest of the centre are full, Ved Stranden 9B is the safe choice: 475 spaces, the largest car park near Nytorv, about 245 m away. At DKK 20 an hour it costs more than both Slotsgade and Salling's free first hour, but the capacity means there is almost always room. You are paying for a guaranteed space, not a saving.

Salling on Nytorv is Aalborg's largest department store and has stood at the heart of the pedestrian streets since the 1960s. It carries fashion, homeware and beauty, has a roof terrace overlooking the city, and is owned by Salling Group. Nytorv is a few minutes from Budolfi Plads, Jomfru Ane Gade and the waterfront, so a trip to Salling often turns into a longer visit to the centre — which is exactly when the choice between the free first hour and a cheaper car park starts to matter.
